A clear, step-by-step guide to help you prepare for and navigate your initial appointment at Southmead Gate 36 HIV clinic.

Step One: Arrival and Registration

Your first step involves checking in at the reception desk at Gate 36 or you are able to check in on the Self Check In Screens around the hospital.

Once signed in wait for your name to appear on the Screens within Gate 36.

When your name appears proceed down to the waiting area. (If you are looking at the Gate Reception take the door to the right (DO NOT go through the SDEC Door straight ahead. Once through the door the seating area is on the left hand side..

Step Two: Health Assessment

A health check will be conducted to establish your baseline status including:-
Weight, Blood Pressure and Urine Sample.

Step Three: Clinical Nurse Specialists/Health Advisors

The friendly team will talk through your health and the next steps.

This is your opportunity to ask any questions. Remember there are no silly questions, the team will be supportive and helpful.

Step Four: Samples

You may be asked to supply samples or urine, blood and swabs.

Our advice would be to drink fluids before your appointment to help.
